Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering and pricing
Custom ladders start at $1,995 CAD. Your final price depends on the wood species, ladder height, ladder finish, hardware type and hardware finish or colour. Tell us what your ladder should look like and we will design it with you, then send you a quote that includes taxes and shipping.
Yes. Every quote we send includes taxes and shipping.
Fill out our contact form and tell us about your vision: the room, your measurements and the look you want. We will reply with design suggestions and pricing. Once you approve the design, we build your ladder.
Yes. We send photos and videos as your ladder takes shape.
Measurements are important, but we also need your hardware type and colour, since hardware can make up 50 to 80 percent of the price.
Library ladders: floor to rail height, the number of rails and the length of each, and your hardware type and colour.
Loft ladders: floor to loft floor height, whether you want a rolling or stationary ladder, and your hardware type and colour.
About 3 weeks from design approval to shipping. Ladder kits take 1 to 2 weeks.
Design and materials
Library, kitchen, closet, pantry, wine cellar, loft, ships and bunk bed ladders, for homes, cottages and businesses.
Maple, white oak, walnut, ash, red oak and Douglas fir. Maple is our choice for painted ladders. Douglas fir is lighter than other species, which helps if you will move your ladder often.
Stain, varnish or paint, in the colour you choose.
A rolling ladder has wheels at the top and bottom and glides along a rail, so you can tuck it to one side when you are not using it. A hook ladder hangs on the rail. You can lift it off to store it upright or move it to another rail or wall.
A cross between a staircase and a loft ladder. It sits at an angle of 50 to 70 degrees, compared with 72 to 75 degrees for other ladders, so it is easier to climb and you can walk down facing forward. It needs more floor space: its base sits 35 to 45 inches from the wall, compared with 20 to 28 inches for other ladders. Short on floor space? We can build a hybrid that looks like a ships ladder at the angle of a regular ladder.
Yes. We can build a gentler climbing angle and add handrails. Braking wheels hold the ladder in place while you climb. Every step can have two traction grooves, and double bevelled front corners help prevent scrapes.
Yes. We build bent ladders for wine cellars and offer bent handrails.
During the design stage. We can work with your contractor and millworker to make sure the rail support is built into your cabinets.
Yes. Let us know about your space and we will help you plan it.
Top rollers, top hooks, stationary loft mounts, braking wheels and non skid feet. Tell us how you will use your ladder and we will recommend the right hardware.
You can choose round over, chamfer or square edges, and add a small bookshelf above the top step. Other details are available on request, so let us know what you have in mind.

Shipping, delivery and returns
Yes. Our clients live across Canada. Shipping for custom ladders is included in your quote. Ladder kits ship free to most destinations in Canada, and hardware ships at a flat rate of $50 CAD per order.
No, but our ladders arrive ready to install by you or your contractor. When we ship an assembled custom ladder, the hardware is already mounted on the ladder and the rail pieces are cut to length. We include the manufacturer's instructions, and your installer can call us anytime with questions.
We can also ship a custom ladder unassembled, which lowers the shipping cost and makes it easier to finish the ladder yourself. We assemble every ladder in our workshop for testing, photos and measurements, then take it apart for shipping. Putting it back together is straightforward. Watch how it goes together.
No. We ship within Canada only.
Every ladder is custom made, so we do not accept returns, refunds or exchanges. If you have any issues with your order, please contact us.
