Canmore Ladder
THE STORY
Our client’s home in Canmore has a loft space above one side of their entrance way. They wanted their ladder to compliment their antique French country doors, which are distressed and have multiple edge treatments.
When I looked at the photos of their doors I thought of a 300 year old library ladder I saw in Marsh’s library in Dublin, Ireland. This library was founded in 1707 and has a storied history that you can discover at https://marshlibrary.ie
The Canmore ladder is a reproduction of this ladder with old world charm with the defining elements:
The sides pieces and steps are 4 1/2” W X 4 31/2” D
The front edge of each step has an ogee edge treatment on the top edge and a cove on the bottom
Each step has two v shaped traction grooves
The screws for each step are counter sunk and covered by a wood plug
Three of the steps have a mortice and tenon look
The front edge of each side have a bead groove
Our Canmore ladder can be used in libraries, kitchens, closets, wine rooms, mud rooms, pantries and lofts. . Customization is unlimited, different wood species, a variety of hardware types and colours, different edge profiles, just let us know how you want your ladder to look.
