Custom Ladder Company is now located in Perth Ontario, 85 km southwest of Ottawa and 300km northeast of Toronto.
We started our company in a garage in Calgary and moved to larger workshops as we increased the number of ladders we built while serving our growing number of clients.
Our clients live across Canada, with the majority of our clients being located in the GTA area. Ladders are costly to ship due to their length, so it made sense for us to move our workshop to be closer to our largest number of clients.

Our story
Custom Ladder Company creates one-of-a-kind ladders for libraries, kitchens, lofts, and bunkbeds. We handcraft bespoke ladders in our little home-based workshop in Calgary, Alberta.
The business started as Upcycled Furniture Company, repairing and refinishing vintage dressers, cabinets, tables, and more. As we explored the world of custom furniture, we saw an opportunity to make custom-built rolling ladders more accessible in the Canadian Market—beyond the standard DIY ladder kit—and Custom Ladder Company was born.
Today, we work directly with customers and designers to build beautiful, functional ladders that make a statement in any space.
Our approach
EVERY PROJECT IS A COLLABORATION. We prioritize connecting with each customer directly to ensure that we create a ladder they’re excited to display in their home and use every single day. From idea to design to delivery, we work with you to create a ladder that fits your space, your taste, and your budget.
EACH LADDER IS MADE TO ORDER. The process starts with talking to you to get your measurements, specifications, and overall vision. Then, we get to work on the ladder, updating you with photos and videos along the way. When the build is complete, we deliver your custom ladder straight to your door.
Meet Phil
PHIL ROBINSON is the craftsman behind every ladder here at Custom Ladder Company. He’s been building bespoke ladders and refurbishing vintage furniture out of his workshop in Calgary since 2021. His lifelong passion for building things by hand started while helping his dad, a general contractor and carpenter, complete renovation projects. He’s also spent time working with his brother refinishing antique furniture. Phil is dedicated to creating heirloom-quality pieces with a personal touch.
When he isn’t behind the compound saw, you can find Phil spending time with his grown-up kids and brand-new grandson, out in the yard gardening, or photographing the birds of Alberta on a hike with his wife, Christina.
